Mid 80´s Talleres y Aceros (TYASA) was founded by Mr. Elias Chahín, installing a hot rolling facility in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico. The plant was extended at the end of the 80´s to include the first melt shop producing up to 320,000 tons/year of ribbed wire. 1997 saw an increase in the capacity of the melt shop as well as the installation of a wire rod mill to reach 450,000 tons/year of both ribbed wire and wire rod.

The Indonesian nail producer PT. Industri Paku Ulir Marabu (MARABU NAILS) was founded in 1979 and today employs 50 people. In the early stages the company manufactured umbrella head roofing nails and from the mid 1980’s MARABU NAILS started producing other special nails, including spiral thread pallet nails. Today the company produces several types of nails such as flat head roofing nails, pallet nails, collated nails, stainless steel nails, as well as small-volume custom-made nails.

In its origins, the company was born in 1953 under the name of Distribuidora Universal, only devoted to the importation and distribution of construction materials. CHAVMAL Ltd. is a manufacturer of nails and other steel wire products for the construction and land development industries. The company was founded in 1951 by the young newcomer from Eastern Europe, Mr. Arie Shomer. During the following decades, it became an elaborate family business owned by the enlarged Shomer family. The story of CHAVMAL is parallel to the story of the state of Israel, which was founded in 1948.
